Bratislava Castle has more ticket types than most visitors realise, and the differences matter — one of them costs €14 and one costs €22 for what looks, from outside, like the same building. Here is the full picture.

The three products

The Slovak National Museum sells the castle as three separate things:

  • Museum of History — the castle route. €14 adult, €7 reduced.
  • Marie Antoinette — the Knight’s Hall exhibition, on its own. €10 adult, €5 reduced.
  • Combined — both together. €22 adult, €12 reduced.

The combined ticket saves €2 over buying the two separately, which is modest but real. Our own price for each is shown against the ticket at checkout.

Family and group rates

The museum publishes a small family ticket at €18 (one adult plus up to two children under 15) and a large family ticket at €33 (two adults plus up to three children). Groups of ten or more pay €13 a head. School groups are €3 per pupil and €5 per university student.

If you are a family of four, the large family ticket is the obvious choice — it beats two adults and two reduced tickets comfortably.

Who gets in free

Three groups pay nothing at all:

  • Children under 6
  • Visitors aged 70 and over
  • Holders of a ZŤP disability card, plus one companion

They do not need a ticket from us or anyone else — just turn up. It is worth checking this before you buy for a group, because it is easy to pay for someone who did not need to.

The smaller tickets

Two parts of the museum are also sold on their own if you only want that one thing: the Treasury at €4 (€2 reduced) and the African art display in the Northern Ramparts at €6 (€3 reduced). Both are already included in the €14 castle route, so these only make sense for a very short visit.

What “reduced” actually means

Reduced covers visitors aged 6 and over and students holding ISIC, ITIC or Euro 26. Seniors aged 65 to 69 have their own rate of €8 on the castle route. Bring the card — it is checked at the entrance, and a reduced ticket without one will not be honoured.

Buying direct

You can buy at snm-online.sk or at the ticket desk in the honorary courtyard. We are worth using if you want the booking handled in English, your ticket in your inbox, and someone to email when something goes wrong. If you are comfortable in Slovak and have the time, buying direct works perfectly well — we would rather tell you that than pretend otherwise.
